Early Intervention/Early Childhood Special Education

Overview

Early Intervention/Early Childhood Special Education (EI/ECSE) are services provided through the High Desert Education Service District (HDESD). Therapeutic intervention and education services are offered to children with divers abilities from birth to age 5.

The Early Intervention /Early Childhood Special Education program offers special services and supports to families with children diagnosed with developmental disabilities or experiencing developmental delays.

Services are available to children from birth to kindergarten age that are demonstrating a significant developmental delay in one or more areas and/or meet disability eligibility criteria in one of the following categories:

Communication Disorder
Autism Spectrum Disorder
Hearing Impairment
Visual Impairment
Orthopedic Impairment
Other Health Impairments
Specific Learning Disability
Emotional Disturbance
Intellectual Disability
Deaf Blind
Traumatic Brain Injury
Referrals can come directly from the child’s family or from others involved with the child. There is no cost for EI/ECSE services to families. Please contact us to start your referral.

Early Intervention (EI)
EI supports families in developing the skills to help their children learn and grow. Services are delivered through a parent coaching model in each family’s home or other care giving settings. Read more . . .

Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE)
ECSE offers special education services to eligible children starting at age 3 and continuing until they enter kindergarten. Services can include specially designed instruction and/or related services such as physical, occupational, or speech/language therapy.
