Employment First Central Oregon (EFCO) is a regional team of providers, employers, and employees supporting the State’s Employment First Initiative.
From their website
“Employment First is a coalition of nonprofits and state agencies working together to support people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) in Crook, Deschutes and Jefferson counties. By linking them to employment opportunities and ongoing job coaching we help create mutual success for employees and businesses alike. Supported employment is not charity; it is a service that finds and maximizes each person’s skills so that everyone they encounter sees the individual, not the disability.
Our Purpose
Employment First Central Oregon advocates for individuals with developmental disabilities, ensuring they are given every opportunity to reach their full potential. Every person has something of value to contribute, and our team of organizations helps working age adults and youth with I/DD find jobs that are fully integrated in the community.
Our Vision
Employment First Central Oregon exists to create community success by connecting skilled people with I/DD and local employers who value a talented, dedicated workforce.
Our Impact
Successful supported employment programs have a positive impact that is both widespread and enduring. Employees find meaningful work that leverages their skills so they can enjoy the success and independence they deserve. Employers realize greater success by building a productive, diverse workforce and a thriving company culture. And, our community as a whole is enriched as they fully embrace and model the belief that all citizens have value.”
